Then go to the Sauce Bar to pick out what kind of sauce you want (for your chips and/or food). Employees are friendly, and always willing to help you with your order. When you enter, grab a menu and then go to the counter when you're ready to order. As it is, I still roll the dice every few months because when it's good, it's REALLY GOOD.This is our favorite place for Mexican-inspired food in Sarasota. If they'd just pay a little more attention to freshness It would be easily the best food for the money in town. I've also encountered the odd stale tortilla bowl or serving of chips. I'd happily pay a little more for my food if I they'd just start throwing their old stuff away instead of putting it on my food. They have, for years now, served me guacamole and pico have begun to turn and have a sharp, sour taste, indicating they probably sat in the fridge a day or two longer than they should have. My major gripe is quality control on their condiments. Two big tacos, beans, rice, chips and a drink (with crushed ice, which is unusual and nice) comes to about $8. Value is one of my favorite things about Tijuana Flats. The hot sauce bar is a neat touch but I don't think anyone tries the really hot ones before they add them, a few have been awful. Ground beef is your best bet as the other meats are occasionally dry or tough. The tacos are perfectly sized and filled with good stuff. I've been eating here off and on since they first opened and it's usually VERY good.
